Today Apple decided to surprise everyone with the release of Mac OS Mountain Lion. Now it is not out yet for consumers, but if you happen to know someone with a Mac OS developers account then they will be able to get it today. The announcement of this was a bit of a surprise, however the release date is set to be the summer of 2012, which is about on par for when Apple has released their previous Mac OS updates (Lion Summer 2011 and Snow Leopard Summer 2009.) Apple also said that this will be a digital download through the Mac App Store and they also mentioned that they will be releasing new Mac OS every year similar to what they have been doing with iOS.
